Communication on Progress

Introduction

Schema is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, a platform for encouraging and promoting good corporate principles and learning experiences in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. This Communication on Progress provides an overview of activities during 2009-2010 in support of the Global Compact's objectives.
The Global Compact

OUR PROGRESS

Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
Principle 2: Businesses should ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
Principle 4: Businesses should support the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
Principle 5: Businesses should support the effective abolition of child labour.
Principle 6: Businesses should support the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
Principle 8: Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
Principle 9: Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Statement of Continued Support

Schema, in 2007, was one of the first signatories of Global Compact in Jordan. We believe in the importance of the ten Global Compact principles and in embedding such principles in the corporate culture to ensure sustainable effective economical development on a national scale.

We are committed to ensure such principles are in place and to further facilitate the advancement of the Global Compact throughout the Middle East and North Africa region.

Our commitment to the Global Compact is a commitment we take seriously and we believe is deserving the hightest level of attention within our organization.
